JAPAN FROM THE GUTTER UP

"Japan From The Gutter Up" is my web site attempt to show all sides of Tokyo, the glitter to the gutter so to speak. The usual images that come out of Tokyo for foreign consumption are typically beautiful images that fit right into tour brochures. Most web sites I have come across also focus on the beauty of Japan. But Tokyo, and Japan in general, is not just Mt. Fuji, temples and manicured gardens. Like any other of the world's great metropolises, Tokyo has its bad side. I have found that the Japanese psyche seems to have a major aversion to this side and too often chooses to turn a blind eye. I in turn choose to focus my eye, and my camera, on all aspects of Japanese society as seen from the view of a long-time foreign resident. Here I try to give a little taste of the ills and the thrills of Japan.
