IO Akira

1971 Born in Kitakyushu city in Fukuoka prefecture.
1993 Started traveling abroad.
1995 Started taking photos with single-lens reflex camera.
At present mainly taking snapshots of people abroad and documentary photos of dramatic company " Seishunza" in Kitakyushu city with black and white. From 2006's winter, planing to take photos of the scenes of South Indian classical music comprehensively.
1997 May Participated in "Iraq International Photo-exhibition" at Baghdad Received "Award of Merit".
1998 July Compiled the pamphlet of "2nd International Khoomei Symposium". Over 40 photos were carried.
1999 July Exhibition at Cafe-gallery in Tachikawa city.
2000 Sep. Group Exhibition at Gallery "Sentakusen" in Tokyo.
From Dec. 2002 till Apr. 2004, wrote photo-essays at travel mail magazine "ESCAPE".
2004 Mar. Exhibition "India" at Gallery Hinakura in Kitakyushu city.
2005 Oct. Exhibition "Soul Play" at Citizen Gallery in Kitakyushu city.
2006 Jan. Wrote "Rich tradition of Carnatic music" in tarvel magazine "Ryokojin".
2006 May Exhibition "India #2" at Gallery Hinakura in Kitakyushu city.
